Advance Studio Artist Trading Cards
Each week you will have at least one Artist Trading Card (ATC) due at the end of each week. This is a 4-week project In other words, you will have a complete set of eight cards due by September 24th. DO NOT just illustrate the meaning, but take it to another level. Push your understanding of the prompt with QUALITY-level artwork. This may be your opportunity to try new media and mix digital with traditional media. Try new compositional techniques and styles, and new combinations of mixed media. Cards must have a concept and follow that concept throughout the set.
There will be scheduled demos to introduce you to new media and techniques, a variety of methods of image transfers, ways to use text effectively as a visual media and to look at themes, focal points and embellishments, finishing, storage, and display techniques. Be sure to check online for a variety of ATC’s from swaps around the world. Investigate some methods of making cards a little bit different from the usual with the addition of doors, flaps, and pockets, as well as triptychs and unusual shapes and miniature ATC’s.
Students will also make a container or book to store the set of mini artworks.
